I'm In An Art Gallery?!
Wednesday, May 17, 2017Didn't think I'd be saying this anytime soon... but I'm in an art gallery! Well, my work is! For those of you who have been following me on my Instagram you'd know that I've had this Alphabet Typography project happening over the past few months. My friend Hollie (of blackandwhitestudios and holliearnettdesign) mentioned in passing that Matchbox Studios (an adorable, quirky shop and art gallery in one!) was having a typography themed art exhibition and that she was going to apply, and I figured that I was already halfway through my Alphabet Typography project so why the heck not!
My Alphabet Typography Project started with me doodling in my visual diary and accidentally-on-purpose making a letter B out of a bunch of circles, which turned into B-is-for-bubbles, which then lead onto making a Z with zebra pattern and a fluffy F. Then I sort-of forgot about it until a few months ago when I decided to vectorise the B, F and Z that I had doodled, which then lead to thinking up other ways of making letters out of what they started with, which then turned into this little mini-project of mine!
Lots of people have asked me what my favourite letter that I have made is, and I honestly can't decide. Sometimes it's the colourful C is for confetti and other times it's the geometric T is for triangular tessellations. There's just too many to choose from, and they're all so different too! I've had lots of people so far say that the hand illustration on the H is their favourite, and others say that the letter that their name starts with is their favourite too!
Honestly, I'm just so excited to have this little project of mine turn into something really exciting, and have so much positive feedback from something that I just thought was a bit average looking. I am very thankful for everyone's kind words, the little nuggets of inspiration I picked up along the way and the little words of encouragement!
Also, a huge thank-you to everyone who managed to come along to the opening night, and for those of you who are unable to come by Matchbox Studios and visit my work in person, they are available to be viewed on my portfolio, and will soon be up on my Etsy to purchase!
Have you been able to visit my work yet, do you have a favourite, and would you be interested in buying one? I'd love to hear your feedback!
